Do you feel tired of randomly generated heroes in the Stage Coach? Then you should try to hire backer heroes. They were created by backers of the game during the Kickstarter campaign. These heroes have two good locked quirks and a bad one. All heroes also have their unique names and outfits as well as some predefined skills. You still can unlock other skills in the Guild.

Let’s discover how to claim backer heroes and why you should use them.

Hiring backer heroes

To unlock a backer hero you have to type his name in the Stage Coach. Just press the Enter button, type desired name and press it again. You will see an added hero so you can hire him immediately. Keep in mind that all bad quirks you can easily remove in the Sanitarium. But you cannot change the hero’s name and outfit. However, it’s possible to rearrange outfits via game folders:

  1. Go «Darkest Dungeon» – «Heroes» and choose the class of your hero.
  2. Rename outfits, for example, change outfit A to outfit B and vice versa.
  3. Open the game and check your new outfit.

Using predefined heroes might be like cheating, but keep calm. The Stage Coach isn’t a perfect place for beginners. You can wait for a good hero for weeks and it will affect your gameplay. And backer heroes allow you to get a good and balanced character which will enhance your team. The full list of backer heroes you can find here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_KRGcm1QcIVeIKMByBx6jDEIpfFudHsRujRK917ES9E/pubhtml. Remember that some names are case sensitive!
