Rust is a really hardcore survival game. If you tried it, you can’t disagree. It can be tough when playing with friends, but if you decide to go alone it gets ridiculously hard and challenging. But still possible to play. Everything's possible right? Here are some Rust solo tips for playing alone that hopefully will help you to survive on your own. Survive longer, I mean. Everyone dies at the end, right?

  • First of all you must comprehend your map, that Rust spawns you into. The maps of Rust are always changing because they are procedurally generated, but there are some guidelines to the things that tend to stay the same. For example: the north seems to be snowy, and you are likely to find deserts in the south. These hints can help you to determine your location when you appear in the game.
  • You want to set up a base. Somewhere you can be safer. Instead of just standing out there naked (literally). Picking up a location for a base may be complicated, but what you’ve got to do is think of the resources that you will have access to. You will need a lot of stones and a lot of wood. So probably one of the best things for you to do is to build a base in the forest area but not too far from snow or deserts so that you would be easily able to reach into the areas that are rich with stones.
  • Remember that snow means that it’s actually cold out there. If you don’t have clothes you’ll probably freeze to death staying in the north for too long.
  • You can find a lot of animals in the snowy areas of Rust. Animals are a good resource they have a lot of fat. And you will require fat to create furnace, which is important in Rust.
  • Always think about what happens if something goes wrong (because it will. A lot of times the things will go sour). What could be useful, is setting a second emergency base with some basic supplies in it, so that if your main base gets destroyed and thus ceases to exist you have somewhere to go and some supplies to start with.
  • Trusting random strangers is what gets you killed in Rust (in real life as well).
  • The Radtowns are filled with loot. Go ahead and claim it. Just don't forget that the chance of getting killed there is really high. Everyone wants the good stuff. And people really like killing each other anyway. Just sneak around get what you need and be gone.
  • Don’t be overly cautious. Especially if you carry a weapon. You can defend yourself and you can kill others. No need to be scared of using your power. Being too cautious will get you killed.
  • If you see a cool someone armoured  and armed to the teeth the chances are that they will kill you. So be a good guy and kill them first or run really really fast.
