If you’re a fan of a good story driven game and generally tend to enjoy a cinematic and/or adventure filled games, chances are you loved Firewatch. If you did, no surprise would occur if the next thing popping up in your mind should be: “Are there any similar games to Firewatch?”. The answer is yes, there are a few that could hold up with Firewatch and go toe to toe in every category. Since Firewatch is a story-driven adventure game, we’ll focus on the ones that fit this genre. We will only include games on PC, so PS4 or Xbox One flagships, such as Uncharted, won’t get mentioned here although if you happen to own a PS4 – Uncharted is a bit similar to Firewatch.
What Remains of Edith Finch
- A game developed by Giant Sparrow, a relatively unknown company which might have created the most emotional and unique experience in a video game of this generation. Firewatch and What Remains of Edith Finch play out somewhat similarly with the protagonist being controlled by the player from a First-Person view. In this game, you take control of Edith Jr. and you go back to your childhood home to uncover deep and weird mysteries surrounding your family. Its enchanting and wonderful to play so we suggest you try it out.

Unravel
- You take control of Yarny, a strange creature made completely out of… You guessed it – Yarn. It’s a 3D side-scroller with Yarn being your strange health meter and beautiful environments to roam around. Unravel provides a sense of true interaction with the environment, similar to Firewatch in a way where Firewatch there’s great character interaction, Unravel shows environmental interaction at its best. There are light and beautiful exploration alongside dark and thrilling puzzles. Check it out

Abzu
- A stylish and artistic underwater experience in a mystical, adventure game with you taking control of a diver, trying to dive deeper and uncover the mysteries, surrounding the beautiful and vibrant colored ocean. Although the mechanical, dialogue and functional aspects aren’t deeply developed, but the beautiful world and amazing sound quality make Abzu an experience, just like Firewatch.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
- A trippy, unique and very intense story with an adventure unlike any other. A very strong story lets you control Senua, a woman, a tribe member as you get to experience her own take on the world. Everything you see isn’t what you get because the world is very confusing yet magically gripping and immerses you within seconds. The beautiful visuals, audio ques and variety of almost perfectly developed mechanics make this a contender for game of the year. Why is it similar to Firewatch? Because a story driven adventure is the core of the game and just like Firewatch, it’s amazing to play.
