Henry is the main protagonist of Firewatch and the character you take control of, once the game is started.

Appearance

Henry has a stocky build, brown hair, wears a dense beard and possesses a memorable voice. During the gameplay you only see his arms and parts of his body as you play from a first person’s perspective. He isn’t crazy athletic, but gets the job done once you start climbing, running or moving past/over/under obstacles or rough terrain. His clothes aren’t flashy and Firewatch Henry looks as an average American man.

Character & Story

Henry or Henry M. is 39 years old, originally from the Mid-West, this man moves to Wyoming and starts to work as a lookout park ranger. Henry’s story is both a bit sad and emotional. Henry lives his life with his wife – Julia. It all seems swell until Julia gets dementia which develops into Alzheimer’s and he has to move away from those problems.

He starts working in the Two Forks Lookout and comes in contact with the second, second line protagonist of Firewatch – Delilah. She is a supervisor whom Henry frequently contacts to get directions, ask professional questions or talk about their personal life. Henry seems like a sweet, caring and generally positive individual with a good sense of humor yet a soft skin and behaves like a young and very gullible individual. His contact with Delilah shows that Henry wants someone to talk to and is willing to trust a person working with him.

In the game

Henry can’t use weapons, because he doesn’t need to. He does not fight enemies and the game focuses on Henry’s character, dialogue depth, relationship building and atmosphere rather than combat, wild movement, outrageous chaos and everything else. Firewatch has a very unique take on storytelling and after completing the game, there is a large moral dilemma that the players have to think about. Most of them take Henry’s side and disregard Delilah. Henry is led to believe some things that aren’t true and a lot is hidden from him. Whether it was out of criminal intentions or to protect Henry, we don’t know. But read about Firewatch ending in our website or hop on to the review section to find out more about this masterpiece.

We suggest you play it out and live out Henry’s story yourselves!
