Polium One: The First NFT Games Console

It seems like PlayStation and Xbox will run into some serious competition as we inch towards Web 3.0. Since the NFT gaming market is expanding on a global scale and many new developing companies are jumping on this fast-moving train, it is time to see some actual hardware that can back up the complex Blockchain games.

In a recent announcement, we got the first sneak peek of the Polium One system released by Polium, which is a Web 3 company. This console will allow you to connect your digital wallet and play all the best NFT games just like a regular console.

Let’s find out more about this revolutionary piece of tech that might mark the beginning of a revolution in the gaming industry.

Release Date and How to Buy One

Since we are talking about a new console based on the Blockchain network, it is expected to have an unusual release. According to Polium, the console will be coming in late summer or early fall in 2024. This is quite a reasonable timeframe considering that we are talking about relatively new technology that is being introduced to console gaming for the first time.

However, not everyone will get a chance to purchase this console. If you are familiar with NFTs then the process of purchasing this NFT console will be familiar to you.

In order to get a chance to buy Polium One, you’ll need to purchase a ‘Polium Pass’ – This is actually an NFT on the Ethereum network with a limited supply of only 10,000 to be minted.

Only the people that have this NFT will get a chance to buy Polium One at release.

Polium One Features

This is not an ordinary console and some new features might apply to it. Even though the company still doesn’t have a functional prototype which is scheduled for sometime in November this year, they have a few ideas that need to be incorporated into the Polium One.

First of all, the new concept of a controller will have a fingerprint scanner and a wallet button for users to access the multi-chain wallet for trading, staking, swapping, and receiving cryptocurrency quickly.

Since we are talking about the console that has access to your digital wallet, a fingerprint scanner is necessary in order to add another layer of security.

When it comes to its resolution capabilities, the company is confident that it will achieve 8K HDR at 120fps and ray tracing enabled, which is incredible.

At this point, we still don’t have access to more information and the company is working hard on finding the right team of developers that can make this project a reality.

What does the public have to say?

Although we are talking about a revolutionary technology that might change gaming forever, there is a lot of skepticism surrounding this project. The company has also received a lot of criticism where people have pointed out that the console’s logo looks very similar to the GameCube logo only upside down.

After the Twitter post got so much attention, the company stated that they didn’t copy the GameCube logo, but they are willing to change it to something more original.

Additionally, the Polium Discord server also received a lot of criticism just because it launched with no moderation, which is sort of a ‘scam alert’. The channel was opened in order to get ‘ideas and feedback from the community but it quickly turned into a paradise for NFT scams due to a lack of moderation.

Final Words

This project is still in the early phase, and since we are talking about the first of its kind, it might take a while until we have the final product. However, the company is determined to release the first NFT console ever, which is a good thing for all NFT game lovers.

We just hope everything goes to plan and we have another console available for the wider audience.
