Overview

Deity Quest is a role-playing game with a convert mechanic similar to Pokemon's catch mechanic. Like Pokemon, Deity Quest is heavy on battles and leveling, however, instead of having followers fight one on one in a turn-based battle system, Deity Quest features a real-time six on six battle system. Gameplay includes exploring randomly-generated locations to convert followers and grind, then fighting boss battles to progress the story. There are also occasional quests, which are similar to normal locations, but include a curve-ball to break up the standard flow (for example, one of the first quests traps you until you are able to find and defeat three enemy groups guarding altars).

Battle System

Deity Quest's battle system allows up to twelve followers to fight simultaneously in real time. Instead of commanding and controlling each follower individually, you can enable and disable skills for each follower, and they will choose an enabled skill and a target to fight automatically. Additionally, you as the Deity are able to use spells and items in battles instead of relying entirely on your followers like in Pokemon. Position and range play an important role in the battle system - having a melee tank up front and ranged archers protected behind it is the most basic of strategies. Converting the right followers, and placing them in the right places is key to winning battles. Some skills also allow followers to equip melee or ranged weapons, modifying their damage, range and attack type.
