The initial concept for Shady's Poopong was drawn up in the 1990's. In these original plans, Shady's trademark sandals were the paddles and a curled-up ball of poop was hit back and forth by them. This version is included in the remake, , as a bonus unlockable.

In 2013, the game was released for play in , as well as on the platform.
