Flight Simulator 2000 was released in 1999 and brought a number of new features to the series, the most noteworthy being 3d elevation for the scenery which had in previous games been completely flat. Other changes included a GPS system as well as the inclusion of 17 000 new airports, bringing the total up to more than 20 000. It was released in both a standard and a pro edition with additional aircraft.
