Diablo III is an ARPG(action role-playing game) with seven character classes that fight their way through dungeons. The classes are Barbarian, Crusader,  Demon Hunter, Monk, Necromancer, Witch Doctor and Wizard. As it is common for dungeon crawler ARPGs the loot is randomized and have rarity tiers, rarer items of the same type having more bonuses. Sometimes instead of bonuses there are sockets in which you can add gems to add stats or effects of your choice. Even though loot is randomized, bosses and stronger minions have higher chances of dropping good quality items. Skill runes is a new feature that Diablo II did not have. It is a skill modifiers that get unlocked when character levels up. Skill runes are not items, it has its own tab where player can upgrade the character skills that he chooses, for example reducing energy cost of the spell or giving them extra range or radius. Hardcore mode allows players to create hardcore characters, which means that if they die they cannot be resurrected and become unplayable and can be placed into the Hall of Fallen Heroes if they reached at least level 10. Hardcore characters can only team up with other hardcore characters. The game thanks to randomized loot and ridiculous amount of options to have different abilities can make each character really different.
