Tetris

In 1984, the game of Tetris was created in a Soviet lab and quickly spread worldwide. The game was first designed to be used to test equipment. However, the clever and cutting edge shape sorting puzzle game was rather addicting as it was a new type of game. Initially, Tetris was loaded as a desktop game on early computers. Its popularity led it to be played on various consoles as well as the Nintendo Game Boy. Game creator, Pajitnov, explained the obsession with the game as our desire to create order out of chaos. Considering our lives today, it’s no surprise that this game as well as offshoots continue to be played.

Pac-Man

Probably one of the most recognized video game characters is the yellow Pac-Man.  Since its introduction in 1980, this game was unique, bringing a whole different type of game to fans. Games today include features such as power-ups and in-game bonuses. These concepts were first introduced to gamers in the form of Pac-Man which also had multiple levels which could be played up to 255. Over the years, the game and its numerous variations has been adapted for new gaming technology as well as mobile phone operation systems. The most recent adaptation occurred around 8 years ago when the game was formatted to operate on the Windows Phone.
