Overview

Visions is in the second stage Alpha level of development with some limited early access granted to players. Visions is being developed by an entirely volunteer team under the company . They have a multi-stage release planned which includes two stages of Alpha development while the tools and mechanics of the design are being developed, and five stages of Beta where the skill progression will be implemented and balanced. Players will be granted access to Visions from 2nd stage Alpha onward through to full release.

Setting

The setting for Visions is the ancient Roman empire around 100 AD under the reign of Emperor Trajan. The Alpha is localized to the island of Cyprus, with more zones being added as development allows with plans to include a majority of the Mediterranean basin as explorable terrain at approximately a 1/18th scale. The terrain has been developed from actual satellite DEM data at 90 meters resolution for a geographically relevant experience. Extensive research has been employed to create cities that have Landmark buildings as close to accurate as possible within the size constraints of the terrain.

Gameplay

The player starts out as a bond-servant to a kind Master on the island of Cyprus who has recently become a Christian and feels the best way he can follow Jesus is to aid in setting the captives free. In Rome if a person who was set free from slavery did not have a viable skill they often would end up in bonds again, so the Master sets out to make sure every servant is trained in a skill of their choice before being set free. Once they have proven they can succeed in a skill he sets them free to continue their studies on their own and focuses his efforts on the next servant that needs training.

The player can then progress through all five stages of training in the professions until they reach Grand-Master level and are able to create a Grand-Masterpiece of their own design which they submit to the developers who will then implement their Masterpiece into the game as a real game item, upon approval.

Visions is heavily skill oriented. Players who prefer crafting will only need to learn basic defensive fighting skills to survive, and will not have to level up a fighting skill to be able to maintain their crafting advancement. Players who do not prefer crafting will be able to learn only basic survival skills in crafting, and will be able to focus their efforts on combat and sell or barter the materials from their conquests to the crafters. Some of the professions planned include pottery, blacksmithing, carpentry, cooking, artizan, hunter, soldier, merchant, entertainer, athlete, physician, disciple, mercenary, and farmer.
