From early on, in marketing this sequel to 2015's of the , EA were eager to show off the game's more elaborate, large-scale battles featuring both foot soldiers and vehicles. However, the game came under severe criticism in the run-up to its launch for implementing and in a manner that much of its audience felt was unreasonable. In response to this, EA removed in-app purchases from the game and lawmakers in some parts of the world were prompted to consider regulation for video game loot boxes.
