Overview

The Nutshack: The Game is a platforming game made by Lame Dimension that borrows elements mainly from Mega Man games to retell a few episodes from the Nutshack cartoon within the game's story. The game features four different stages with one additional stage that can only be accessed by completing the game with no continues. Though the game's development has no direct involvement with the original creators of The Nutshack, they are acknowledge the game's existence.

Gameplay

The Nutshack: The Game is a game largely inspired by the Mega Man X series, where the two playable characters' moveset are somewhat based off X and Zero. The three buttons for controlling the game allows the player to jump, attack, dash, and switch between characters at any point. The objective is to clear each stage and defeat the boss waiting at the end of each stage.

Playing as Phil

Phil's trigger happy skills makes him no match for any boss.

Phil is the the only available character at the start of the game, being a great option for players to learn the controls of the game due to his simplicity. Phil's main method of attacking is shooting beams from his gun, which is based off his signature TT Boy Cannon from Season 1 Episode 9 of The Nutshack. This gun can be aimed upwards as well to defeat enemies above him. This can be done by simply holding up while attacking. Holding down and pressing the attack button, in the other hand, makes Phil perform his Weed Shine. This move allows Phil to reflect any projectile coming towards him and is a great defensive option.

Playing as Tito Dick

Tito Dick unleashes his sword's charged attack, providing more reach and power.

Tito Dick is unlockable at the end of the second chapter of the game. Tito Dick is presented in this game as Blind Dick from Season 1 Episode 6, meaning that most of his attacks relies mostly on swordplay. Tito Dick is a more complex character to play as, but provides more speed and damage output than Phil, as well as a higher jump. Like Phil, Tito Dick is able to aim his weapon forward and upward. Though Tito Dick has less range than Phil, he is able to charge his sword, which unleashes a powerful slash that reaches very far. Holding down and pressing the attack button varies on whether Dick is in the air or on land. While in the air, Tito Dick can instantly drop down and impale enemies below him. If this is performed successfully, Dick is able to bounce, allowing him to reach platforms within further reach. While on ground, Tito Dick performs a spot dodge, giving him invincibility for a second to dodge any attacks. Though Tito Dick has many more options for offensive play, he suffers from having a larger hurtbox.

Story

Phil's been planning for something crazy as usual, but he realizes that his friends have gone missing. Phil then embarks on a quest to find them and find the reason behind this mystery. Shortly, Phil finds The Slasher. As Phil approaches him, Tito Dick falls from the sky, with his neck stuck to a giant fishing hook. Phil's beloved uncle is dead, and Phil quickly destroys The Slasher out of anger.

Phil then strives to find the one behind this incident to resolve his desire for revenge. Storming through a suspicious fortress, Phil finds Rainbow Scout. Phil demanded answers, but Rainbow Scout challenges him to a duel. Phil overpowers Rainbow Scout, but Rainbow Scout detonates an explosion as his last resort. Phil gets blown away for many miles. Tito Dick, reincarnated as Blind Dick, suddenly appears out of nowhere and delivers the final blow to Rainbow Scout.

Dick then tries to find his nephew and reunite with him. Slashing through the streets, he soon finds Phil, struggling to fight against Jerome and Jamar, the city's biggest thugs. The two thugs then throws something out of their upgraded, hovering vehicle. This object is then revealed to be the dead body of Phil's cousin, Jack. Phil and Dick team up against the two thugs and blows up their vehicle into smithereens.

With the two reunited, they search into the outskirts of the city. They soon find another fortress heavily guarded by enemies. As they stormed deep into the fortress, they hear a voice that sounds very familiar. This voice is then revealed to be from Dwayne, their landlord. Angered by their inability to pay rent bills on time, Dwayne could not take it no more. Dwayne has allowed them to pay their fees late too many times and whenever Dwayne tried to express his friendship in the past, the two only showers him with neglect. Dwayne's anger then turned him into a giant, giving him massive powers to fight Phil and Dick.

After an intense fight, Dwayne gets defeated and the two finds a dark room. The result of this scene depends on whether or not the player completes the game with no continues. If the player had continued, the last missing person is revealed to be Cherry Pie, a guy that Phil and Dick finds to be annoying. If the player did not have any continues, the last missing person's reveal is interrupted by Dwayne. Dwayne musters up the last of his strength to transform into his younger self, where he had access to turn into The Hulk Kid. Phil and Dick fights him, and wins. With this, they were able to rescue Phil's homegirl and everyone went home safely.
