Overview

Sonic Forces is a 3D sci-fi fantasy platforming video game developed by and published by for the , , , and on November 7, 2017.

The to , Sonic Forces is set in a world on at the hands of and other villains from the past (with help from the mysterious Infinite). After inital defeat, his allies form a force in an attempt to free Sonic and liberate the world from Dr. Eggman's army. Along the way, they get help from both the alternate-dimension Sonic (dubbed "Classic Sonic") and a mysterious (and ) recruit.

Similar to Sonic Generations, the game features both 2.5D side-scrolling and 3D over-the-shoulder perspectives. Throughout the game, players can play as "Modern" Sonic (who can perform a homing attack and boost using White Wisps), "Classic" Sonic (who can perform the "Drop Dash" ability from ), and the customizable recruit (who has a wrist-mounted and the "Wispon", a one-handed weapon that uses the color-coded powers of ). Additional allows players to play through a bonus episode as .

Along with , the game was announced in commemoration of the series's 25th anniversary.

Character Creator Species

The following species have been revealed for Sonic Forces' character creator. Each species comes with their own unique trait:

• Wolf — Automatically draws in rings when near them

• Rabbit — Has longer invincible time after receiving damage

• Cat — Keeps one ring after being hit

• Dog — Restarts with five rings after the player dies

• Bear — Blows away enemies with a homing attack

• Bird — Flies high with double jump abilities

• Hedgehog — Collects rings when getting damaged
