Overview

miniLAW: Ministry of Law is a tactical platforming shooter set in the far future. Taking place in New Babel, the last bastion of life on a barren world, the player takes the role of a cybernetic police officer with an enhanced ability to execute the law.

Gameplay

As a constable, the player roams above the streets of New Babel in a flying squad car until a crime is detected. Descending into a platforming stage, the player then non-lethally apprehends, or executes, a special target who is typically guarded by numerous minor enemies.

The player has the option to take down any opposition via lethal or nonlethal means. With the "Razor" firearm, the constable can quickly dispatch bad guys with lethal force. However, with melee combat the constable can take down perps by breaking their stamina and knocking them out. Lastly, perps' resolve can be broken by a "shout", which is a threat that is verbally emitted from the constable's loud and intimidating voice speakers.

Between encounters, the player can spend RQ, effectively experience points to upgrade weapons and systems for the constable's suit and car. RQ is rewarded by the miniFACT Arbiter based on the constable's performance in the encounter: Non-lethal takedowns and complete area security are worth more RQ than lethal takedowns. Apprehending more criminals grants bonuses to RQ, as well as finding contraband, freeing hostages, and identifying murder victims.
