Overview

The King of Fighters XIV is the fourteenth game in the long-running The King of Fighters franchise that is being released on August 23, 2016 in North America and on August 25, 2016 in Japan for the PlayStation 4. KOF XIV was first announced at PlayStation Experience 2015. SNK and Sony has marketed the game through numerous character reveal trailers throughout 2016 up to its release. Atlus USA handled publishing KOF XIV for North America while Deep Silver published the game for Europe.

An arcade version running on NESiCAxLive 2 was announced in mid October of 2016.

Story

Over time, the fighting tournaments hoping to cash in on the "King of Fighters" name grew so widespread that its popularity slowly dwindled, leading to calls for a single, unified tournament. One day, a brand new globe-spanning fighting tournament was launched by Russian billionaire Antonov, who claimed to be the "first champion" of KoF and used his money to buy all the rights to the King of Fighters name.
