Fatalities were the very feature that brought Mortal Kombat a lot of its fame when it first came out. Who can forget that congressional hearing over the violence in the game and its potential effect on kids? Nowadays, while fatalities are still an integral part of the Mortal Kombat experience, it isn’t something you see a lot of in the competitive sphere.

Thankfully, Mortal Kombat 11 isn’t simply a game to be played in the competitive arena and is still well enjoyed by friends who like to throw nasty fatalities at each other. Today, we are going to be looking at five of the nastiest fatalities that Mortal Kombat 11 has graced us with.

Before we go on, please note that this is a subjective list as an objective list of the very best fatalities in Mortal Kombat 11 is impossible.

Ice-Cutioner (Sub-Zero)

Input- BFB2

Our favorite Ice user kicks off this list with his fatality, Ice-Cautioner. Some might prefer his more spine-removing enders, but there is something quite relatable and horrific about this one. In this fatality, Sub-Zero freezes his opponent in place, leaving only their head sticking out, and then creates a huge Ice Axe which he uses to decapitate the character. Straightforward for some people, but it is pretty terrifying when you consider that this was more or less how a lot of people around the world lost their lives. The guillotine was a terrible way to go, and seeing it in such graphic detail puts it on this list.

You’re Next (Scorpion)

Input- BDD1

Well, it only seemed fair to add Scorpion to the list with Sub-Zero already on the list. So, Scorpion’s “You’re next” is pretty badass. Scorpion does his best impression of Raiden and flies at his opponent wrapped with fire. This burns off the opponent’s sides and leaves them completely helpless. Then, Hanzo unsheathes his sword and decapitates the opponent. Not content with just that, he now uses his ranged blade to catch the opponent’s head in the air. It makes the list for its creativity and the homage to Raiden

Death Trap (Erron Black)

Input- DFD2

Erron Black’s fatalities are pretty sadistic, which is true to form to the cowboy assassin. Death Trap is particularly nasty simply because of how ‘human’ it is. The fatality is one in which you could see a genuinely demented human being pulling off against a hapless victim. In it, Erron throws a gnarly looking trap at his opponent and catches them in it. The trap is then activated, creating a massive hole in the opponent, which Erron then proceeds to shove a shotgun through and fires into the victim’s head from the inside. That’s a double-tap if I have ever seen one.

Peeling Back (Geras)

Input- DFB1

The manipulator of the sands of time has a rather nasty fatality. He creates a huge wall of sand behind the victim and hits them into it. The victim sinks slightly into the wall but with the front half of their body sticking out and their arms spread out as if crucified. Then Geras approaches them and, from the tips of their fingers, peels them from right to left, removing all skin in the process.

Hooked (Kabal)

Input- DDD4

There are very few lists of Mortal Kombat 11 fatalities that would be complete without Kabal’s ‘Hooked.’ It is an especially brutal and horrific fatality, and if you are interested in learning more about it along with other enders, you can check out this handy fatalities guide, and you should find all that you are looking for. Back to Hooked, Kabal uses his already dodgy-looking hook swords to slice the opponent’s belly, leaving entrails hanging out; then he goes for their feet, tearing that apart. As the opponent falls, he catches them in the mouth with his hook swords and then applies pressure to their back to complete his horrific execution.

Fatalities are inseparable from the Mortal Kombat franchise, and they have only gotten better over the years with the improvement of graphics and the research and innovation that goes into them. What is your favorite fatality? Why not put it down in the comments below.
