Story
The universe of FrightShow Fighter takes place in an alternate reality called the FrightVerse. It was created accidentally when an evil warlock named Xonolox performed a spell that ripped through space and time. This was done during a stage performance at a small local theater, where every Thursday night, a group of people would put on a "FrightShow"; performing fun and entertaining acts. They fight to destroy Xonolox and return to the normal universe from which they came.

Mechanics
FrightShow Fighter plays similarly to most other fighting games. It uses a simplified button scheme, utilizing only a punch and kick for normal attack. Holding the Pose button allows players to perform different stationary types of attacks. Hold pose and toward the opponent makes the character more vulnerable, but can deliver a stronger attack. Holding pose and away blocks, but can also perform a weaker attack.
Special Moves
Each character has their own set of 3 special moves. Two of these moves are normal special moves and can be performed at any time. The third is a Power Move and can only be used when the Power Meter is full. Special Moves are performed similar to other fighting games, with half circle, quarter circles, or holding away, then towards.
Power Moves
Power Moves are performed just like special moves, but can only be done when the power meter is full. The meter fills over time, and doesn't change based on damage dealt or received. The speed that the meter fills up is based on the potential damage that the move can deliver.
PowerUps
PowerUps are special items that can be brought into a fight that have different special abilities. 3 PowerUps can be brought into a fight, and can only be used once. They have many different effects and can be used by any character. Unlike special moves, PowerUps are activated with the push of a button.
PowerUps are exhaustable during story mode and are earned by winning fights story mode. They are also unlocked in this way. In 2 player mode, PowerUps are infinite.
