The gameplay mostly comprises of simulation-like flight, intercepting enemy dragons and destroying enemy ships with your unique dragon abilities.

Nintendo Entertainment System

NES top-down gameplay

Somewhat drastically different when it eventually came to the Nintendo Entertainment System two years later, DragonStrike shifted the whole perspective of the game to a top-down style shooter with a higher emphasis on action rather than simulation. Basic gameplay elements stayed consistent with the home computer release, with battles between dragons and enemy convoy a central focus.
