Infusions in BioShock Infinite are a sort of upgrades that are put in different bottles (bottles are a theme for upgrades and positive things in this game). There are three types of infusions: a health infusion – a red bottle, salts infusion – a blue bottle and a shield infusion – a yellow bottle. After consuming the infusion Booker gains the ability to increase one of the three stat’s capacity: health, salts or shields. Upgrades aren’t reversible and so last for as long as you play. After collecting all of these infusions you can earned the achievement “Infused with Greatness”.

In general, the infusion upgrades the stat bar by 15% compared to the base amount. Every attribute can be upgraded 10 times, so that’s a possible 150% increase in something. 24 Infusion bottles lie around the world of Colombia, waiting to be consumed. They affect your gameplay, especially when playing on harder difficulties as you try to get every possible form of advantage. Now we’re going to give you a short description of an infusion and when to use it to get the best results.

 - Health Infusion. Don’t increase health first, because it doesn’t regenerate while consuming the infusion will restore max health, you shouldn’t focus solely on this stat because Shields regenerate and you should take care of it in the end of the game or at least after increasing your shield capacity.

 - Salts Infusion. They’re your best friends. If you play on the hard or 1999 setting, you must use a lot of salt upgrades because the game wants you to use vigors and without a salt capacity increase, their use can become extremely limited. Relying on Elizabeth for a salt dose can be painful especially while you’re losing precious ammo. So take care of this.

- Shield Infusion. They allow you to last longer in combat, especially if your style of play is to dive in nose-first to combat. Using shotguns and other closer distance weapons are way more fun when there’s a shield to protect you. We suggest working on your salts capacity, followed by shields and top it all off with the health upgrade. Besides, shield is the only stat and help in the game that buys you time to retreat.
