The gameplay is fairly standard for the genre, there is one resource, mineral ore, to gather in order to construct buildings and a large selection of units, there is also an research tree used to get new units and weapons, and per unit upgrades, to increase fire rates, armor, stealth etc.
The two sides' differences are mostly aesthetic, hand-waved in the plot as the Vrass enslaving humans.
