Dark Souls III is an ARPG (action role-playing game) that is played in third-person and is known for very punishing and difficult gameplay. There are different weapons in the game such as bows, throw weapons, and swords. Shields can be sometimes are used as well, but only to deflect enemy attacks or defend while there is danger to suffer high damage. All of the weapons have to attack modes, simple quick attack and charged up powerful attack. In addition to weapons there is also magic spells in the game. The game is well known as really hard, punishing even the slightest missteps or mistakes. There are many different enemies with very different fighting styles in the game. In addition many of the enemies you fight adapt during combat and change their fighting patterns, which makes it even harder. Throughout the game the strategic options available to player grows as there is big focus on role-playing, which allows for improved weapons and abilities. Huge and very well detailed maps pushes players towards exploration. The gameplay is more fluid than in its predecessor Dark Souls II, and when you add the graphical improvements, it does feel much better to play Dark Souls II than Dark Souls II, well if you up to the challenge of really really challenging boss fights and enemies in general.
